BEHAVIOR CONSULTATIONS

Are you concerned about certain aspects of your dog's behavior? Does she cry or become destructive when you leave? Bark and lunge at dogs on walks? Growl when you try to take a special item from her? All of these problems can be addressed with behavior work. We provide solutions for aggression, anxiety, fear, housetraining issues and other problems. Our methods for addressing behavior problems are based on the science of animal learning and behavior. We will work closely with you to offer a personalized treatment plan and plenty of support throughout the training process. TRAINING PACKAGES

Our training packages are designed to give you the tools you need to teach your dog to be a calm, well mannered member of your household.  The packages consist of a series of appointments where we help you along each step of the process - from first teaching your dog to sit at home in your kitchen, to getting him to stay calm and focused in a public place.  This amount of personal attention sets us apart and sets you and your dog up for success.

Puppy Package

Start off on the right paw!  Make sure you do everything right from the beginning to prevent your new puppy from developing problems in the first place.  Our puppy package covers housetraining, mouthing, socialization, problem prevention and basic training, including come, loose leash walking and greeting behavior.  Call to set up your appointment as soon as you know when your pup is arriving to make sure you can get started as soon as possible after bringing your new dog home.  In most cases, the last one or two sessions are taken on the road so you can learn how to keep your dog's attention and stay in control even while you're out in public.

Basic training package

Take the stress and hassle out of training your dog.  You can have the calm, well-behaved dog that you always wanted.  This package covers the basics of dog training, problem prevention, and basic training such as sit, down, come, loose leash walking and greeting behavior.  Perfect for new dogs or existing dogs that could use some additional manners.  Don't wait for your dog to establish (or continue to practice) those bad habits - contact our office today to set up an appointment.

A Friend for Fido - Introducing a New Dog to Current Dog(s)

Are you bringing home a new dog?  Do you already have a dog (or two or three?) at home?  Making sure the initial introductions go smoothly can make the transition easier for everyone.  A good first impression will also minimize the risk of problems in the future.  This package will give you the information you need to introduce the new dog properly to your household.  We can even arrange for the behavior consultant to be present for the first introduction.  Call before you plan to bring your new dog home so you have plenty of time to prepare your currents dog(s) for the new arrival.

A Friend for Fluffy - Introducing a New Dog to Current Cat(s)

Are you bringing home a new dog to a resident cat (or cats)?  Are you concerned how your cat will react, or worried that the new dog will chase your cats?  Learn how to work with your dog and cat to make sure the transition goes as smoothly as possible.  Don't give the new dog the opportunity to learn that chasing the cat is fun, or practice other unwanted behaviors.  We will teach you how to introduce you new dog to the resident cat as smoothly as possible and how to avoid common cat/dog issues.  Call to arrange an appointment before you bring home the new dog so you can avoid problems before they start.

Bringing Home Baby

Prepare your current dog(s) for your new arrival.  This package will cover problem prevention and teach your dog some important behaviors - like go to bed and walking next to a stroller - that will make life with a newborn much easier.  Our trainer and behavior consultant is also a mom.  Her personal experience gives her unique insight into the challenges that come with this amazing life change.  We strongly recommend purchasing this package before your new baby arrives, however, we're happy to help after the baby arrives too.  If you're pregnant, it's not too early to call for an appointment - the earlier you call, the more time you have to prepare your dog for the little one.

A Friend for the Family - Bringing Home a New Dog with Kids at Home

For many parents, a lifelong love of dogs began when they were kids.  They have many fond memories of adventures and and quiet time with their childhood dog.  It's only natural to want your kids to have the same great experiences.  However, living with kids and dogs also creates unique challenges.  Knowing what to expect, how to select and dog and how to teach your kids and your dog to interact with each other can go a long way toward preventing serious problems from arising in the future. 

We strongly recommend calling before you get a new dog.  If you call before you've brought in a dog, we will help you choose the appropriate dog for your family.  We can also give you important information on preventing common problems (like mouthing) and on teaching children to interact safely with dogs.  After the dog arrives, we will work with the whole family to make sure everthing is running smoothly with the kids and the new dog.

Before You Get Your Dog

Adopting a new dog is an important decision.  Choosing the right dog for your family is very important if you want to avoid problems down the road.  There are many things to consider before adopting a dog.  This package will provide you with important information to help you choose, prepare for and bring home a new dog.  We will discuss adopting puppies, adolescent and adult dogs and choosing between mixed and pure breed dogs.  You will also learn where to find your new dog and how to pick an individual dog that best fits your family.  There will also be plenty of time for you to ask questions the pertain directly to you and your individual needs.
